FSC Coaching Guidelines
Parents are expecting professional coaches. The coach should be properly
dressed in Foothills Soccer Club gear. The coach should set the time of
training sessions and be there at least 15 minutes before his/her session
begins. For games, the coach should arrive no later then 30 minutes before
the start of the game.
Be
organized in your training sessions. Come prepared with a lesson plan,
know what you want to train don't wait till you get there and then think
about it, have bibs, cones and field set up and ready to go and start your
sessions on time. If you are starting at 6:00pm then get started. Second,
make sure you are ending on time as well, if you have told your parents
that you are practicing until 7:30 then finish at 7:30 so the players can
get home and attend to other matters, like homework.
Provide information to your parents in a timely matter, ex. Getting your
tournament schedule set early, having your training schedule set and what
times you want the players there.
Encourage other coaches in the club to train your team, Foothills needs to
be considered a family, players and parents should know who the coaching
staff is.
Respect the game, red cards should not happen. Your teams are a reflection
of you and you are a reflection of Foothills Soccer Club. Remember there
is a zero tolerance for red cards you will be fined $200 for the first
offense and $500 for the second which will be deducted from your pay. If
we get to a third offense then a meeting will be scheduled with the club
president and or the Director of Coaching with a possible dismissal from
the program. The decisions will be based on the referee's report.
Please
be prompt in returning phone calls and e-mails, and make sure all paperwork
and club fees are collected on time.
Refrain from using profane and vulgar language
Display a positive attitude towards players, parents, officials and fellow
coaches
Do not
get involved in recruiting infractions, if you have a player that you would
like to contact make sure they are not currently playing for any other club
team. If you are approached by a player from another club that would like
to play for you then it is your job to call and speak with the opposing
coach to make sure he/she is aware of the situation.
Promote
ODP to your players, the more we get playing at the next level shows that
we are doing something right at Foothills Soccer Club. If you are unsure
about ODP please contact me, Brian Shrum, at any time and we can discuss
the process.
